Los Angeles Advisory BoardThe members of our Los Angeles Advisory Board are industry leaders, tax lawyers and accountants, many of whom are also Golden Gate University alumni. In their role as advisors they help ensure the MS Tax curriculum remains current and relevant and that appropriate learning outcomes are identified. In addition the board performs a critical function in identifying trends in the market place, hiring needs of the Southern California tax profession as well as assisting with identification and recruitment of adjunct faculty experts in the field. |
Glenn Gines Tax Director RSM McGladrey MBA in taxation, Golden Gate University | Glenn Gines is a tax director in the Pasadena office of RSM McGladrey's Southern California Economic Unit. His background, prior to joining the firm in 2004, includes 15 years of Big Four experience. Glenn spent more than nine years with Deloitte and more than five years with KPMG prior to joining the firm. He has extensive experience in serving publicly traded corporations with multi-state and international operations as well as high-growth, midsized companies. Glenn has extensive knowledge and experience in corporate taxation and accounting for income taxes (FAS 109). He was a member of Deloitte's National FAS 109 Competency Group and has led numerous FAS 109 training seminars for tax professionals as well as members of the Tax Executives Institute. He has assisted the firm and other clients in the documentation of the tax cycle in numerous SOX 404 consulting engagements. Glenn is RSM McGladrey's Southern California FAS 109 practice leader and is a member of the National FAS 109 Technical Advisory Group. He assists with the development of FAS 109, FIN 48 and related technical/training materials and presents them at the local and national levels. Glenn consults nationwide on a variety of technical FAS 109 issues, including accounting for uncertainty in income taxes (FIN 48), interim provisions, business combinations, foreign provisions and stock-based compensation (FAS 123R). He has also provided tax consulting services to clients on a variety of issues, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, analysis of corporate structures, consolidated returns and accounting methods. Glenn is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA). He has a BS in Business Administration with an option in Accounting from California State University and a MBA in taxation from Golden Gate University. |

Previously, Sam was Vice President, Corporate Development and Taxes for Sunrise Medical Inc. & Subsidiaries for 23 years where he responsible for the tax affairs of the company, and in a non-tax capacity completed approximately 70 multinational acquisitions in approximately 15 countries. Traded on the NYSE and then subsequently private, Sunrise is a leading global manufacturer of durable medical equipment. Prior to Sunrise, Sam was with KPMG Peat Marwick in Los Angeles for 3 years where he was a Supervising Senior Tax Specialist. He received his B.S.
