His career includes five other Presidencies: Marshall University (WV), Stephen F. Austin University (TX), Austin Community College (TX), Citrus College (CA) and Imperial Valley College (CA). He was elected to the State Legislature in Michigan and served as a Special Assistant to a US Senator in Washington, D.C. His university teaching experience includes Purdue University, Wayne State University, the University of Delaware, Albion College and Queens College in NYC.A prolific writer, he has published 12 books including a political biography of former Michigan Governor George Romney, a primer on long range planning, and a book on management.His educational credentials include a BS and MA (Education) from Wayne State University and a PhD earned at Purdue University (Communications). Major public service assignments have included membership on the Federal Reserve Board (Dallas). Career honors include: Distinguished Alumnus at Wayne State University (Michigan), Public Administrator of the Year (Austin, TX) and an invitation to the Oxford Roundtable (England).

Areas of expertise: accreditation, cyber education and taxation issuesBarbara Karlin was appointed vice president of academic affairs at Golden Gate University in 2002. She has been with GGU since 1983, when she started as an adjunct professor, and her positions at the university have included associate dean and then dean of the School of Taxation, as well as dean of the Ageno School of Business. Karlin is an active member of several key committees at the GGU and received the
Outstanding Service award, selected by the faculty in 1994. Karlin has written books, newsletters and videos on various tax-related subjects, and is in demand as a public speaker. She also hosted the television program, Tax Tips, which was a 10-part series on tax concerns for the 1997 tax year.Subjects Karlin has covered in her speeches include internet tax research. Karlin received her BA in political science from Stanford University, her JD from Hastings College of Law, and a LLM in taxation from Golden Gate University. She was admitted to the California Bar in 1980 and became a Certified Public Accountant (currently inactive) in 1985. |  |

Hite joined the university leadership team on February 1, 2008. Mr. Hite possesses more than 30 years of experience in finance and administration in higher education in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Most recently, he served as Menlo College (in Atherton) vice president for finance and administration and treasurer. While there he also oversaw the development and completion of the campus master plan and oversaw the completion of a consolidated student service center.From 1995 to 1999, he was vice president for finance and treasurer at Holy Names College, in Oakland, where he also developed an RFP for a facilities conditions survey; worked with investment bankers to issue $5.9 million in tax-exempt bonds, and oversaw construction.
He has worked with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in various capacities, including as an evaluation team member and a member of the WASC proposal review committee. He holds the B.S. in Business Administration and Accounting from University of Arizona and has passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant examination.

Areas of expertise: increasing access to the justice system,increasing diversity in the legal profession, civil rights litigationDrucilla Stender Ramey became dean of the School of Law effective August 1, 2009. She is the former executive director of the National Association of Women Judges and former executive director and general counsel of the Bar Association of San Francisco, as well as a former tenured member of the GGU School of Law faculty.
Ramey's career has been devoted to the achievement of equal opportunity and access in the justice system. She has chaired the ACLU of Northern California and the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women and served as a co-founder and board leader of a wide variety of groups devoted to diversity and equality, including California Women Lawyers, the California Minority Counsel Program, and the Immigrant Legal Resource Center. Her many honors have included the ABA Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award, the American Jewish Committee's Learned Hand Award, the Anti-Defamation League's Jurisprudence Award, the National Bar Association's Wiley Branton Award, and the National Lesbian and Gay Law Association's Allies for Justice Award. She serves on the board of directors of the American Judicature Society, the board of directors of the Habeas Corpus Resource Center, and the editorial advisory board of California Lawyer magazine. She received her BA magna cum laude from Harvard University and her JD from Yale Law School.

Paul Fouts, Interim Dean, Ageno School of Business

Areas of expertise: corporate strategy, strategic leadership, management of innovation and technology, international strategy.In June 2011, Paul Fouts was appointed interim dean of the Edward S. Ageno School of Business. For the previous 12 years, Fouts was the associate dean and director of MBA programs at the Ageno School, where he has been a professor of strategy since 1995 teaching in the areas of corporate strategy, international strategy, and technology management. Fouts received a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 1995, and MBA from Sonoma State in 1991 and a BA from University of California Berkeley in 1969.As a professor, Fouts conducted research and has publications and presentations in the areas of corporate strategy, technology management, organizational structure, and environmental policy. He was the recipient of the Moskowitz Prize for 1998 for the best research in corporate environmental performance and the Outstanding Paper Award in the International Journal of Commerce and Management in 2010. He has made presentations to international private, governmental, and educational audiences, and has taught in corporate training programs for companies such as Cisco, Chevron, Gilead and Credit Suisse. As a member of GGU faculty, Fouts received the outstanding scholarship of teaching and the outstanding scholarship of service awards.Prior to starting his career in education, Paul Fouts had twenty years of senior management experience in the San Francisco Bay Area in the retail, manufacturing and services industries for firms including Topps & Trowsers, Marin Mountain Bikes and Circa Corporation and worked in the New Product Introduction group at Hewlett-Packard, Signal Analysis Division.

Areas of expertise: investment banking, law, corporate strategyIn April 2004, Terry Connelly was appointed dean of the Ageno School of Business at Golden Gate University. Most recently before joining GGU, Connelly was director of strategic advisory services at Ernst & Young Australia and served on the adjunct faculty of the Queensland University of Technology Graduate School of Business.Connelly began his professional career in 1968 as an attorney with the New York law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore where his experience included corporate, securities and litigation practice in New York and London. This was followed by 18 years of service with the Salomon Brothers investment banking business where he became a managing director and chief of staff in 1987. From 1995 through 1998, Connelly served as chief executive of Cowen & Company's investment banking business, which focuses on the life sciences and technology industries.Connelly holds a BA from The Catholic University of America and a law degree from NYU School of Law. During his career, he has served in the capacity of member and chair of a variety of associations including the Corporate Finance Committee of the Securities Industry Association, the Program Council of the Center for International Studies and Liberal Arts at Connecticut College, the Dean's Advisory Council for the New York University School of Law and was a fellow of The Aspen Institute. |  |

taxation, tax research and property transactionsIn 2002, Mary Canning assumed the role of dean of the
School of Taxation at Golden Gate University, and in 2006, the role of dean of the School of Accounting. Canning has been with the university since 1987, serving in a variety of capacities including that of adjunct and associate professor. From 1997-2002, Canning was the associate dean of the School of Taxation as well an associate professor. She also directed the school's full-time program and the tax internship program. She has received GGU's Outstanding Adjunct Faculty award and the Outstanding Scholarship of Teaching award for full-time faculty.Canning earned her BA in social welfare from the University of California at Berkeley and her JD and LLM in taxation from Golden Gate University. She has held positions in the Coopers and Lybrand tax department and was a senior tax manager at Ernst & Young. |  |

Cherron Hoppes was named dean of Undergraduate Programs for the Ageno School of Business in July 2006. Prior to that appointment, Hoppes served as the director of admissions and student affairs since November 2000. She came to Golden Gate University in 1999 as the assistant dean of student affairs. Her career includes experiences at a mid-sized public institution and small, private institutions for both traditional undergraduate students as well as non-traditional, working adults seeking degree completion or graduate degrees.Her recent experience includes leadership for both recruitment and retention activities by managing services related to outreach and recruitment, admissions, academic advising, international student services, career and internship services, counseling, disability services, student life, graduation certification and commencement. In addition, she has also worked in the areas of marketing and collateral development, strategic planning, institutional research and maximizing the use of technology to support enrollment and student services via the internet.Hoppes earned a bachelor of science in criminal justice and a master of public administration, both at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In addition, she holds a doctorate of education (Ed.D.) from The University of Alabama, where she specialized in higher education administration. Her dissertation, Trust in Times of Challenge, uses an organizational behavior lens to better understand faculty and administrator relationships during financial challenges at small private colleges and universities.

management and Silicon Valley regional issuesSince June 2001, John Fyfe has served as the regional administrative dean for Golden Gate University's South Bay and Monterey Bay sites. He has been a member of the GGU staff since 1992. Prior to his current position, Fyfe was the director of quality assurance and planning as well as the acting dean of the CyberCampus. He has also been GGU's provost of the Silicon Valley/Monterey Region. Before joining GGU, Fyfe was on staff at the Stanford University School of Medicine where he served consecutively as director of research administration, director of laboratory health and safety, and director of administrative budgets.Fyfe earned his BA at Colorado College and his MA and PhD in education at Stanford University. |  |
