The Marketing and Public Relations Program

Today's businesses need creative, highly educated marketing specialists who understand the contemporary global and technological economy. At Golden Gate University, we monitor the developing trends in the marketplace and the concurrent changes in marketing education they make necessary. That's how we're able to provide you with a first-rate marketing education that's both cutting edge and grounded in the strong foundation skills you must have to compete in today's business environment. In your GGU classes, you'll learn to identify issues relating to international marketing and technology, and create new solutions to them. We offer a range of specializations so you can develop a deeper level of expertise in one of several important marketing areas.

When you graduate from GGU with a degree in marketing, you'll have the superb skills and in-depth knowledge you'll need to be highly successful in the current global marketplace. Golden Gate University is known for offering contemporary, practicable education to our students. Thus, to meet the increasing demand for more specialists in marketing and marketing communications, we offer the master of science in integrated marketing communications, which joins the popular master of science in marketing.

As one of the Bay Area's leading universities for marketing education, Golden Gate features experienced faculty who are involved in the many facets of marketing. We offer a state-of-the-art curriculum focusing on hands-on, real-world application of information and knowledge.

Professional Faculty

Our adjunct faculty have advanced degrees in business and most are practicing professionals. They work in corporate settings and as consultants.

All full-time faculty in marketing possess PhD degrees and have extensive practical experience. In cooperation with industry leaders, our faculty regularly review and upgrade our curriculum to bring current business topics and technology into the classroom. Our classes, which stress the case-study method, challenge you to solve real-life problems. Through this approach, you develop decision-making and communication skills in marketing classes along with acquiring marketing concepts for business in the 21st century.

The Student Experience

Our students demand - and we encourage - intelligent, mature and well-developed classroom discussions. The majority of our students work full-time in marketing or business, and they bring their experiences and knowledge to the classroom. They are joined by a diverse group of serious students from around the globe. Together, our faculty and student body make the GGU marketing education experience relevant and valuable.

As a student, you have access to one of the West Coast's premier business libraries, which has computerized business and media databases, and is accessible electronically from all sites. You also may join the student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) for social and business networking opportunities. Course credit and work experience are supplemented by our internship program, which often evolves into permanent career positions. Marketing students have participated in programs with Charles Schwab, Oracle, Bill Graham Presents and other leading corporations. Classes are held year-round in the evenings and on the weekends in a variety of weekly formats. You can enroll year-round and begin taking classes at the start of any term. The average student attends part time and is 32 years of age.

In the Classroom

We place a strong emphasis on practical content in our courses. To that end, we make extensive use of real-world cases and utilize class discussion to a great degree. Your classes will be highly participative and will help you develop skills for working in a team-based, problem solving setting. Because our classes are small, you'll get to know your classmates well, and they will enhance your network of colleagues.
