ABOUT GGU PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION:

1. Credible and reputable - GGU's Public Administration Department is the oldest in the San Francisco Bay Area with more than four decades of public administration education (since 1965) at a century-old University (established 1901), 7000 strong GGU public administration alumni! (who have received:undergraduate and graduate certificates in PA, BPA, MPA, EMPA, or DPA)
2. Executive-oriented - for mid-career professionals; no fresh BA/BS graduates with no work experiences accepted, at least 5 years working experiences, preferably in middle to senior level of the career service.
3. Rigorous and cutting edge- curriculum recognized by National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) institutional member since May 1973 (more than 30 years!).Signatory to NASPAA's "Code of Good Practice in Public Affairs Education".
4. Accelerated and challenging - use of six intensive 8-week terms per academic year (Fall B, Fall C, Spring B, Spring C, Summer B, and Summer C) allows for one-year completion.
5. Flexible and accessible - cyber or cohorts; one course per term or two courses per term; take a course online from Cyber or onsite from Monterey, Sacramento, or San Jose. Completion in one-year is possible.
6. Transfer friendly - allows transfer of 6 graduate level units from another university, including transfer credits from the FBI National Academy.
7. Pioneer in Executive MPA programming, i.e., 1 of only 41 NASPAA EMPA programs in the United States (and 1 of only 3 in all of California). Only EMPA in the San Francisco Bay, Monterey, Sacramento, and San Jose areas!
8. Active Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor's Society chapter. Only public administration program in the United States with a record three peer-reviewed student papers published in Pi Alpha Alpha academic journal.
9. Professional practice professors - All professors have solid professional practice backgrounds in the public (from local to federal to international), non-profit, and private sectors; 90% have doctorates.
10. Backed by a solid business school - Edward S. Ageno School of Business - The EMPA is housed in a 'school of administration' unlike other MPA programs which are offered by schools of public affairs, departments of political science, or colleges of professional studies.
11. Military and overseas posting friendly - federal government employees and US military personnel posted anywhere in the country and anywhere overseas (with internet access) will be able to complete their EMPA degree uninterrupted.
12. Encourages social justice - Graduate Community Leadership (GCL) scholarship available for students who have made significant contributions to their communities and neighborhoods in terms of volunteer work through community-based organizations, non-profit organizations, or non-governmental organizations.
