Unemployed Students
Golden Gate University is very aware of the difficult issues students are facing in the job market. GGU has established Economic Assistance Grants directly from the university. Students must be able to demonstrate high need by completing a FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov)on line. Generally, the FAFSA must reflect an EFC of $7000 or less (number underneath the date on page #1 of the FAFSA when processed). Students must also document that they are currently receiving EDD benefits while enrolled as half-time status at GGU in an eligible degree or certificate program. The Economic Assitance Grant is for a portion of the tuition costs and is not directly given to the student. Undergraduates may be awarded a total of $1000 one time only and Graduates may be awarded a total of $1500 one time only. Please contact the GGU Financial Aid Office for further information.
During these turbulant economic times - An education at Golden Gate University is still possible with student loans. Direct Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized) are available without credit worthiness reviews depending on a student's remaining loan eligibility level! Call the Golden Gate University Financial Aid Office for further information 415-442-7270 or e-mail finaid@ggu.edu.

Post - 9/11 GI BILL
GREAT NEWS FROM GOLDEN GATE UNIVERSITY!
The Post 9/11 tuition/fees and the Yellow Ribbon Program benefit for eligible Veterans may cover up to 100% of tution and fees. An eligible Post 9/11 Veteran may receive $391.75 per unit for tuition in a California university. If an eligible Veteran is taking 12 undergraduate units tuition is $6960 per trimester at Golden Gate University. The Post 9/11 benefit will pay $4654 of the tuition leaving a balance of $2306. The percentage of benefits on Post 9/11 may range from 40% to 99%. The $391.75 per unit is 100% of tuition benefit.
IF the Veteran is 100% eligible for Post 9/11 benefits, they are also eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program:
The Veterans Administration allocates $17,500 a year ( August 1, through July 30th ) of Post 9/11 benefits to those veterans who are eligible for 100% Post 9/11 benefits. The $17,500 is applied first to tuition & fees cost for the first semester. If there are funds left over from the $17,500 after the first semester tuition & fees are paid, it is applied to the second semester. Once the $17,500 is used up, Golden Gate University will award a grant up to 50% of remaining tuition costs not to exceed $7200 ($7200 per trimester beginning fall 2011) per trimester to eligible Yellow Ribbon Program Veterans. The Veterans Administration will match the other 50% so that an eligible Veteran may incur no tuition costs out of pocket.
The Veterans Administration determines the Veterans eligibility and issues a Certificate of Eligibility which must be submitted to GGU along with a DD214 copy by the Veteran.

Changing enrollment units or terms/trimesters
When students receive financial aid award letters, the calculations are based upon the information provided on the GGU Financial Aid Application. Any change in the enrollment of units or terms/trimesters may cause a student to become ineligible for all or part of their awarded financial aid. Financial aid funds may have to be returned and the student may end up owing GGU the amount of returned funds. If you are going to change your enrollment in any way, please contact your GGU Financial Aid Advisor
before the change is made.
The scholarships and grants listed below are available to undergraduates who meet the criteria. No application is required. Funding for these scholarship and grants generally comes from our extremely generous donors and alumni.
