Graduate Studies at GGU: Cohort Programs

A cohort is a group of students who start and finish a degree program together -- taking many or all of the same courses simultaneously in a prescribed schedule.

Cohorts offer several advantages, which often include:
  • an accelerated pace for faster completion and a clear graduation date
  • a fixed course schedule for hassle free course selection
  • support and motivation from fellow cohort members
  • networking opportunities among peers with similar goals

While many students remain in their cohorts from beginning to to end, some shift to a slower pace or choose alternative courses suited to their learning goals.

MAc or MSA Cohort

MS Tax Cohort

With our full-time, intensive programs, you can earn your Master of Science in Taxation (MS Tax), Master of Science in Accounting (MSA), or Master of Accountancy (MAc) degree in as little as one year by taking classes Online or at Golden Gate University's downtown San Francisco Campus in the heart of the financial district.

Every week of the program, you will be interacting with tax and accounting professionals -- class guests who present technical information on lunchtime panels and provide career and job search insights to you one-on-one.

You will quickly become fluent in the language of the accounting and taxation professions. From your first day as a GGU cohort student, you will be considered to be a tax or accounting professional. Workplace professionalism and courtesies are observed (business casual dress is required for on-campus classes), and timeliness and adherence to deadlines are practiced.

We also offer our MS Tax, MSA, and MAc degrees part-time, both in-class and online.

EXECUTIVE MASTER OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (EMPA)

COMPLETE YOUR DEGREE IN 16 MONTHS

LEARN MORE

Mark Kennedy

Unlike the traditional Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree that includes a core of common classes and an emphasis program to prepare you for work in a specific focus area of your choice, GGU's Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) program assumes that you already have developed competence within a specific functional area. Thus, it builds on your existing skills through in-depth case discussions on the critical areas of executive and managerial focus common to middle and upper-level management in all governmental and non-profit organizations, locally and globally. Using a combination of intensive in-person and mixed-mode courses, you will complete your degree in 18 months (one course per term).

The EMPA cohort program is offered at GGU's Silicon Valley site and through Enterprise-Sponsored Sites across the Bay Area.
