| BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF JOB |
|
The Telecommunications and Network Administrator functions as a member of the ETS Infrastructure Team. Reporting to the Manager of IT Infrastructure, Operations and Architecture, this role will take primary leadership and technical direction from the Senior Network Security and Systems Administrator, leveraging and following the technical standards, processes and architectural approach defined by the Senior Network Security and Systems Administrator.

| ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
• The end-user support of Cisco telephones and voice applications
• Daily administration of back-end Cisco Voice infrastructure
• Daily administration and monitoring of Cisco network infrastructure
• Security Administration, including desktop, network, policy and physical access enforcement for IT assets and applications
• Network Administration, including basic knowledge of VLANs, network routing, desktop and enterprise firewalls, DHCP and DNS administration
• Perform basic Server Systems Administration tasks
• Other related duties, as assigned

| QUALIFICATIONS |
The candidate should be comfortable working with VoIP-based telecommunications platforms from vendors such as Cisco or Nortel, as well managing and maintaining the switching and routing infrastructure that is required to support a VoIP system. Additionally, he or she should have experience working in medium-sized to large IT departments, and working with a diverse range of administrators, engineers and developers.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• 1 year of hands-on experience managing a VoIP system
• 3 years of network and/or system administration experience
• CompTIA Network+ Certification or Cisco CCENT Certification (switching/routing or voice)
• 5 or more years of professional IT work experience
• Experience working in IT organizations that have multi-tiered technical operations supporting large numbers of customers.
• Experience balancing strategic, long-term project work with imperative, short-term administration and support activities.
• A background working in sophisticated, service-management savvy technology environments which utilize ITIL-based best practices, Change Management, SDLC workflows and structured Project Management.
• Experience working in a matrixed-management professional environment, where technical leadership is provided by multiple persons, and collaboration often occurs across technical teams and departments.
• Experience managing the network "core" services/protocols for an organization, including DNS, DCHP, SSH, FTP/SFTP, SMTP, NTP, etc.
• VMware Server (ESX) Server - basic end-user knowledge and experience. No previous experience is required using VMware Server, VMware ESX or VMware workstation, but this position requires the ability to learn how to function in an IT server environment that is nearly 100% virtualized using VMware technologies.
• Strong English speaking and writing skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• An undergraduate BA or BS (or international equivalent) degree is required.
• A minimum or 5 years of IT professional experience
• Personal organizational skills, self-reliance and determination, and proficiency with a broad-range of technologies.
