Laptop Guidelines

Computer Labs
Open during library hours, closed 15 minutes before library closes.

The Plaza Level Lab Both PCs and Macs are available.
The Lower Level Lab Room B-4 - 13 PCs are available during library hours.

Study Carrels
Most of the study carrels on the Plaza Level and the study carrels by the wall on the Lower Level are wired for laptop Internet access. To use these ports, laptops must have an Ethernet card or PCMCIA PC card and a CAT 5 cable, which are available at the GGU Book Store, but may be purchased in advance from any other computer supply retailer.

Wireless Network
We have a wireless network in the library for laptop Internet access. To access the wireless network, you must have either an internal wireless device or a wireless card (standard: 802.11b or g).

IN ORDER TO ACCESS OUR WIRELESS NETWORK, YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR LAPTOP WIRELESS MEDIA ACCESS CONTROL ADDRESS (called a MAC address). First, read the instructions, policy statement, and FAQs at http://www.ggu.edu/wireless. Next, sign on to your GGU4U account and access your Profile. Follow the instructions for GGU Wireless Network Access link from http://www.ggu.edu/wireless. If you have trouble with your GGU4U account, please call ETS at ext. 7070 from any GGU house phone.

Laptop Access In Our Classrooms
Power for laptop computers is provided at every desk in most classrooms. Several classrooms are also equipped with data ports for Internet access. Laptops must have an Ethernet connection or PCMCIA card and a CAT 5 cable to use these ports. Printing is available for the PCs and Macs in the computer labs.
