SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

Golden Gate University's Law Library houses the largest legal collection in San Francisco's financial district - more than 270,000 hard copy volumes and other electronic resources. The library's holdings include comprehensive series of case law, statutes, digests, encyclopedias, periodicals, and treaties dealing with American law; a strong tax collection; a microforms collection; a government documents collection, and a growing body of work in environmental law, law and literature, and international law. International law holdings target selected Pacific Rim countries and European Union materials. The goal of our collection development program is to build a library that supports both our curriculum and the research of our faculty.

In addition, our attorney members will find a rich collection of practice materials, form-books, and loose-leaf services. Codes and statutes from every state are kept current.

Golden Gate University Law Library has been a selective Federal depository since 1979, as well as a depository for selected government publications of the State of California. Our in-house collection includes documents published by the Judiciary, the Department of Justice, the Environmental Protection Agency, Executive agencies, the Department of Labor, as well as many others. Golden Gate University Law Library complies with Title 44, section 1911 of the United States Code by allowing the general public entrance to the law library without charge to use the depository materials. The Law Library maintains a list of Faculty Publications for the convenience of our professors and other researchers. We are pleased to present this research tool to the Golden Gate School of Law and the local legal community. Our growing IP collection reflects the studies of our LLM students, as well as the dynamic San Francisco Bay Area focus on this topic. Access our collection here. Our collection includes materials on biotechnology, copyright and trademark law, Internet law, entertainment law, and international copyright and trademark law. The McDaniel Law and Literature Fund was founded in 1993 to assist and enhance instruction in the area of law and literature through the purchase of books and other materials, as well as for the provision of supplementary funds for expenses related to its teaching. The course has been taught by various visiting and Golden Gate University faculty as schedules and time permits. In 1996, Mrs. D. Jamison McDaniel gave a supplementary gift to the Law School to create the McDaniel Law & Film Fund for the purchase of books, materials, and equipment for the teaching of a Law & Film course. Golden Gate University Law Library houses one of the most complete tax collections in San Francisco. Most of our tax material is located in the Tax Alcove, on the Plaza Level of the law library.
