Claudia Giolitti was born in Caracas and graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela with a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Psychodynamic Psychology Concentration. In Caracas, she offered psychological evaluation and individual psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, and adults at various public institutions, including mental health hospitals and a drug rehabilitation center.
In 2011, she moved to San Francisco with her husband to begin her graduate studies at GGU. Last year she started working at Instituto Familiar de la Raza, a Latino agency in the Mission District of San Francisco which embraces a philosophy of self-determination, community empowerment, and spiritual affirmation that Claudia has decided to follow in her future work as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She feels that her purpose as a Latina MFT living in the United States is to address, through the practice of a culturally appropriate psychotherapy, the complex problems of violence and social oppression.
Claudia dedicates this award to her mom.
