CONTEXT OF BUSINESS

Provides the framework for understanding the critical impact of the international, legal, political, social, environmental and cultural roles played by the business enterprise in conducting its business. STRATEGIC ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

Introduces strategic analysis and design techniques from an integrated perspective. Addresses the roles that functions within an organization play in strategy formulation and implementation. OPERATIONS

Explores the concepts and practices of managing business operations in producing the firm's goods and services with emphasis on how the operations function contributes to the achievement of its strategic objectives. Investigates how the operations function works with other business functions to achieve system-wide optimization. Introduces management concepts and techniques used in the design and development of goods and services, facility layout and location selection, operations planning and control, design and operating efficient supply chains, and in applying continuous process improvement techniques and technologies. Introduces operations management issues such as just-in-time and lean production systems, flexible production systems, agility, mass customization, process reengineering, and quality management programs. Introduces the managerial aspects of information technology in business organizations, including governance models for business and management of technology assets.
