Master of Science in Project and Systems Management
A structured graduate degree program designed to train IT students and professionals for advancement as project and systems managers.
Recently, companies have been placing more stock in project managers for their ability to transcend the technical and business aspects of day-to-day operations. With a master's degree in project and systems management, students graduate with a unique skill set that gives them the insight to manage a project and utilize an IT department's ability to work in conjunction with business in order to best serve their needs.
ProGRAM Highlights
The Master of Science in Project and Systems Management prepares students for work centered around technology systems, operations processes, and project management. The degree content focuses on project and systems management skills in business settings increasingly influenced by information technology. The program is well suited for technologically-oriented students who work in industries where operations and project management functions in the business are supported with technology.
Students will graduate with project and systems management skills that emphasize the use of technology in its relationship with business function areas. Business expects that IT will increasingly drive business value, and project management and operations skills will support leadership in attaining these organizational goals. Students' communication skills will increase and will be directed at success in working in and among the multiple and diverse communities within the business organization
Golden Gate University is a member and Registered Education Provider (REP) for the Project Management Institute (PMI), and has introduced OP 346, Practice of Project Management, a course that will provide a comprehensive investigation and review of the content areas that form the substance of the PMI industry certification examination for Project Management Professional (PMP).
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Graduates of the MS in Project and Systems Management program will be able to:
- Demonstrate general knowledge of business dynamic, corporate strategy, industry, and stakeholders issues.
- Demonstrate managerial skills, e.g., leadership, problem solving, communication.
- Demonstrate the ability to utilize information technology (IT) skills in supporting business processes and in the design, implementing and managing IT systems and applications across the business units.
- Demonstrate project management skills, including leadership, planning, budgeting and scheduling.
- Demonstrate program and portfolio management skills, including understanding issues in vendor relationships, outsourcing/offshoring, purchasing and contract negotiations, as well as regulatory and compliance issues.
- Demonstrate the ability to integrate and apply the above understandings and knowledge into the development of a major applied capstone project, in either the information technology or project management concentration.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Please note that some courses taken as part of certificate programs will have prerequisites. These prerequisites must be satisfied (through transfer of equivalent coursework or through taking the courses at Golden Gate) before the certificate courses can be completed.

A focused graduate degree concentration designed to prepare system management students for a career in IT Management.
The IT department is playing an increasingly important role in modern business. Gone are the days when IT existed only to solve computer problems; IT departments now implement systems to improve business functionality, build and maintain databases, and integrate the latest technologies as they come out. Graduates with a concentration in Information Technology are no different. Students are up to date on the latest software and hardware used in the field, and have firsthand experience in organizing, administering, and strategic planning of information technology.

A focused graduate degree concentration designed to prepare system management students for a career in Project Management.
Students graduating with a concentration in Project Management are well versed in the skill set needed to get ahead: they can plan, budget, and set realistic deadlines for projects both big and small. Learning from professionals in their field, GGU graduates understand project administration and team dynamics, possessing the ability to get the most out of a team or company. Courses focus on practical application of skills taught and internship opportunities are readily available, so students are immediately ready to enter the workplace upon completion of their degree.
