ABA Annual Meeting August 5-10 in San Francisco
The Law School is pleased to be both hosting events and participating in the upcoming ABA Annual Conference in San Francisco from August 5-10. August 5, the School will host the Judicial Division's "Perceptions of Justice," a discussion about how minority communities perceive California's courts and the impact of that perception on public trust in the judicial system. August 6, the School hosts the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations' "Transforming Law, Transforming Lives," to be keynoted by Dean Drucilla Ramey. ABA Awards California Water Law Symposium
The American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources will honor the California Water Law Symposium with its Law Student Program of the Year Award. GGU Law Student and 2010-2011 Co-Chair Anthony Austin, along with other event chairs, will be honored at the ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco on August 8. The 2010-2011 Symposium will be hosted by GGU Law on Saturday, January 22, 2011. Details and registration info will be available in coming months. This year's Symposium theme is, "The End of Paper Water: Unlimited Demands, Natural Limits, and Reliable Supply." (7/16/2010)

Environmental Law & Justice Clinic Wins Appeal on Behalf of Hinkley, California, Residents
The Environmental Law & Justice Clinic (ELJC), working with the Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment, successfully defended their 2008 lower court victory overturning San Bernardino County's approval of an open-air sewage sludge compost facility in the rural Southern California town of Hinkley. Golden Gate Ranked Among Nation's 30 Most Diverse Law Schools in US News & World Report
In its newly released diversity ranking of American Bar Association-accredited law schools, US News and World Report ranks Golden Gate University School among the top 30 schools. The Law School embraces and celebrates diversity in a variety of ways, including through its dozens of active student groups reflecting differing cultural, ethnic, sexual orientation, political, and other perspectives, scholarships for people from a variety of backgrounds, and many courses and clinical activities addressing issues of diversity and equal access to justice. At the helm of the Law School is Drucilla Stender Ramey, the Law School's second woman dean and a staunch advocate for diversity in the legal profession.
Golden Gate Law Ranked Third for Externships Participation at ABA-Accredited Law Schools
In his annual analysis of eligible second- and third-year law students' participation in externships at American Bar Association-accredited law schools, Professor James Backman of Brigham Young University rates Golden Gate Law third, with 74% eligible students participating in externship programs. Golden Gate Named First NAWJ Landmark Sponsor Law School
The School of Law is the first-ever National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) Landmark Sponsor Law School, joining an array of major law firms and corporations that have served as NAWJ Landmark Sponsors. The arrangement, underwritten by alumna and attorney Amy Eskin (JD 86), will enable Eskin, who serves on the NAWJ Resource Board, along with one member of the School of Law faculty to attend the association's annual and regional meetings in 2010.
