Academic Development Program - Programs for First Year Students

ADP addresses the needs of first year students through its extensive outreach of one-on-one advising, workshops and Dean's Small Discussion Groups.

One-on-one advising

  • First year students may make appointments with any four of the ADP team members to go over outlines, substantive review, study skills and exam strategies throughout the semester. To arrange an appointment, please email academicdevelopment@ggu.edu.
  • Handouts covering outlines, study skills and exam strategies are also available.

Workshops

Fall Workshops

Spring Workshops

  • Hour-long optional workshops are held throughout the second semester and address important strategies for 1L students to succeed. They include:
    • Assessing First Semester
  • Dates and rooms for upcoming workshops will be given.

Dean's Small Discussion Groups

  • 2L and 3L students lead small discussion groups for all first year students in a first year course. Material is provided to the TAs from ADP and incorporate substantive review, legal analysis and exam taking strategies into each weekly meeting. First semester the program is mandatory; second semester it is optional. For both semesters, students are assigned discussion group leaders.
