Highly Qualified

HLP only admits high achievers. By the time they start their first apprenticeships, these exceptional students have completed half of law school and have represented at least one client. They are ready to get to work for you.

Why You Should Hire an Honors Lawyering Program Student

  • HLP students are available to work full-time during the fall.
  • Acceptance in HLP is highly competitive.
  • HLP's blending of academic and skills training prepares students for both the theoretical and practical demands of law practice.
  • All HLP students qualify for certification under the Practical Training of Law Students program through the California State Bar and may appear in court.

Advantages for Employers

  • Employers get well-prepared, knowledgeable apprentices who are ready to work right away.
  • Apprentices work full-time or part-time in the summer or fall, as employer needs dictate.
  • HLP staff help employers to find the right apprentice for their offices.
  • Employers compensate students in accordance with their ability to pay.
  • Many of our students are eligible for salary subsidies.
