Vulnerable Populations and Economic Realities: An interdisciplinary approach to law teaching
Golden Gate University School of Law and the Society of American Law Teachers held a two-day Poverty Law Conference in San Francisco on March 19-20, 2010 at Golden Gate University School of Law, located at 536 Mission Street, San Francisco, California. This event brought together new data and theories from the social sciences, communications and media, and legal education about our most vulnerable populations for use in law teaching across the curriculum.
On Friday, March 19, the keynote panel was led by Paul Butler, Professor of Law at George Washington University Law School and author of
Let's Get Free: A Hip-Hop Theory of Justice. On Saturday, March 20, the keynote speaker was John Payton, President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Mr. Payton successfully argued on behalf of the University of Michigan in a landmark Supreme Court case regarding diversity in higher education.
