Intellectual Property Law Conference October 16

The School of Law and IP Law Center will host the 8th Annual Conference on Recent Developments in Intellectual Property Law on Friday, October 16, from 9 am to 5:45 pm. Speakers will include Lynne Beresford, US Commissioner for Trademarks; Hon. James Ware, US District Court, Northern District of California; and leading IP attorneys. California Chief Justice Ronald M. George to Speak on Campus October 20

Hon. Ronald M. George of the Supreme Court of California will deliver the Inaugural Chief Justice Ronald M. George Annual Distinguished Lecture at the School of Law on Tuesday, October 20 from 5 to 6 pm. The theme of his address is "Access to Justice in Times of Fiscal Crisis." Minority Bar Coalition Unity Conference on October 23

On Friday, October 23, the School of Law will host the Minority Bar Coalition "Unity" Conference, 12:30-7 pm. California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno will be honored at the event. Pro Bono Open House on October 27

The School of Law and Public Interest Clearinghouse (PIC) have formed a partnership to run the PIC's law student pro bono program at GGU. Through the PIC, GGU students will have access to an online database, receive a weekly newsletter, and can work with a dedicated AmeriCorps fellow at the PIC to find the right project. The program will be introduced at a Pro Bono Open House event on Tuesday, October 27, 11:30 am-1:30 pm, at GGU on the sixth floor. Environmental Law Symposium on Farming and Food on November 13

The School of Law will hold a conference on Friday, November 13, titled "Farming and Food: How We Grow What We Eat," 9 am-4:30 pm, at the School of Law. Topics include Feedlot Runoff, Organic Certification, Irrigation Subsidies, Genetically Modified Crops, and the Mexico-U.S.Corn Trade. Presenters include attorneys from law firms and nongovernmental organizations and professors from several universities. Cosponsors include the Environmental Law Sections of the State Bar of California and the Bar Association of San Francisco and Fitzgerald, Abbott & Beardsley LLP. 4.5 hours of MCLE credit available.
