School of Taxation About Us

About the School of Taxation
The School of Taxation has enrolled more students over the last 35 years than any other tax program in the nation. Our focus on providing students with practical skills and hands-on experience has earned the respect of the industry's leading firms. Not only do major accounting firms actively recruit our graduates, they also rely on Golden Gate for continuing education and professional training for their employees.
A comprehensive curriculum
As the nation's leading tax school, we offer more tax classes more frequently than any other university, and our large adjunct faculty and student body allow us to offer a greater variety of classes within areas of specialization. As a private university, we also have the flexibility to quickly make changes to the curriculum in response to new developments in the industry.
A faculty of top tax practitioners
Our full- and part-time faculty members all have advanced degrees in law and/or taxation, and many are certified public accountants. Most are current practicing tax professionals who bring years of experience and current expertise into the classroom. We also have an advisory board of working practitioners and tax partners, many from the leading firms, who review our curriculum regularly to ensure that we address the most important issues affecting tax professionals today.
Immediately applicable skills
Because our class size averages 15-20 students, we're able to use a teaching approach that involves an application of theory and critical thinking to practical problem solving. This provides immediately applicable skills and experience you can take from the classroom to the office. For our full-time master's students, this practical approach assists in creating the opportunity for a tax season internship.
Practical tools for learning
Our program gives you a thorough and current knowledge of the laws, regulations and other authority, concepts, practices and trends of the discipline. The School of Tax writes its own textbooks for many of the courses offered, which bring together code, case law, rulings, regulations and practical case studies based on real-life tax problems. From the very start, rather than reading from legal or abstract textbooks that discuss tax law second-hand, you'll be learning from the actual law you'll need to know on the job. Our students also have complete internet access to proprietary tax reference libraries.
A diverse student body
We know that opportunities for professional networking are an integral part of your education. Our student body brings to the classroom a broad range of work experience and personal backgrounds. Many of our students come to the program with impressive credentials, and most continue to work while they complete their degree. Whether you're a tax industry veteran or just starting out in the field, the mix of personal and professional experiences will enrich and maximize your study.
