Information about Financial Aid Documents
Reasons your Financial Aid file may be incomplete include:
No ISIR (electronic Student Aid Report (SAR)) on file
You have either not completed a FAFSA at all, or you have not completed a FASFA for the correct year. FAFSAs are academic year specific and must be completed or renewed EVERY YEAR. The application covers the period beginning with the Fall trimester and includes the following Spring and Summer. That is, the 2009-10 FAFSA would cover Fall 2009, Spring and Summer 2010. The Financial Aid Office mails reminders to students every January and the Department of Education sends PIN (personal identification) numbers as reminders to renew your FAFSA for the next year in December. However, it is your responsibility to complete or renew your FAFSA each year. Forms may be completed online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov. GGU's Title IV school code is 001205.
Copies of federal tax returns, W-2s and (independent or dependent) verification worksheet
You were randomly selected by the federal government for a process called verification. This will be noted on the first page of your Student Aid Report (SAR). The Financial Aid Office will need a signed copy of your (and your spouse's, if married) federal tax returns, including all schedules and W-2s, along with a verification worksheet (available from the Financial Aid Office and will be mailed with the missing information letter from GGU).
Selective Service Registration
Proof of Selective Service (draft) registration. Contact the Selective Service office at (847) 688-6888 or go to
www.sss.gov.
Proof of citizenship
We need proof of your U.S. citizenship . Send Financial Aid a legible copy of valid identification (state id or driver's license) and one of the following:
- your U.S. passport
- naturalization papers
- alien registration card (front and back)
- birth certificate
Signed copy of alien registration
We need proof you are an eligible non-citizen. Submit to GGU Financial Aid:
- copy of alien registration card (front and back)
- passport coded as pending alien registration
Rejected ISIR
Indicates you need to make changes to or sign your Student Aid Report and forward to the federal processing center (not the Financial Aid office).
