Request to Take Courses at Another Institution (International Student)

Newly admitted students may enter Golden Gate University with up to 70 units from a community college, or a combination of course work from two- and four-year institutions of up to 93 units to apply as transfer credit to the undergraduate degree. All transfer units will first be evaluated for articulated course work from approved institutions with GGU's established articulation agreements. In the evaluation process, an emphasis will be placed on evaluating basic proficiencies and electives first, with course work in the liberal studies core to follow.

To transfer courses from another institution, students must meet the following criteria:
  • The student has not met the maximum allowable transfer units.
  • The student is in good academic standing.
  • International student has received approval from an international student advisor.
Request a Leave of Absence

Students who have circumstances that require them to be absent from Golden Gate University (GGU) for three or more consecutive trimesters (for a maximum of six trimesters) may file for a leave of absence. This will allow the student to return to GGU under his or her original degree requirements. Students who do not return to GGU for the trimester specified are considered to have withdrawn from the university and must apply for re-admission under degree requirements in effect at the time of their re-admission.

International students who require a leave of absence should speak with an international student advisor about any issues related to immigration and student visa regulations prior to submitting the leave of absence form.
