Non-GGU Course Credit

Taking Courses at another Institution while at GGU
GGU Students are allowed to take courses at other institutions while at Golden Gate University. Those courses may be transferable to a GGU degree program according to the following.
Articulation References
GGU maintains and posts articulation references with other institutions. It is strongly recommended that students refer to the
articulation references before registering for courses at another institution. Every effort will be made to post updated articulation references with other institutions on this site as soon as possible. For those students attending institutions where no articulation reference exists, the student must provide ample documentation (course descriptions, syllabus information, etc.) to support the transfer of credit. Students may petition for approval prior to taking the course at another institution.
Petition for Prior Approval
Domestic students (non F or J visa holders) are not required to petition for permission to take course work at other institutions. However, to ensure that the credit is granted, you may submit the
Request to Take Courses at Another Institution form for prior approval. You do not need to submit a petition to take courses at another institution if the course(s) are articulated. To find out if a course is articulated, please refer to the
articulation references.
International students in F-1 or J-1 status may be permitted to take courses for credit at other institutions while they are pursuing their program at the university. Regulations and policies regarding concurrent enrollment have been developed by the US Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration and by GGU. In order to receive credit for classes taken at another school, students in F-1 and J-1 status must submit an
International Student Request to Take Courses at Another Institution form. Written approval for the concurrent enrollment must be obtained from the International Admissions and Advising Office before students can begin taking classes at another institution.
Maximum Transferable Units
Transfer credit will not be granted if the student has met the maximum allowable transfer units (70 units from a two-year institution).
Academic Standing
If the student is not in good academic standing, transfer credit will not be granted.
Financial Aid
Students who wish to receive financial aid for courses taken elsewhere will also need to submit a petition to the
Financial Aid Office.
