Career Self Assessment
Self-Assessment
For individuals who are contemplating a career transition or are uncertain about their career direction, we offer in-depth career self-assessment. A series of appointments can be arranged to complete and review the results of a number of self-assessment instruments. These instruments allow an individual to take stock of his or her skills, interests, values and temperament in order to clarify career direction. The following self-assessment instruments are offered:
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (FORM M) - STEP I. . . $27
The MBTI Step I (Form M), the most widely used career assessment and personality test available, is the first step to understanding your personality type. You'll learn how you can best use your personality at work and which work environments are best for you.
Strong Interest Inventory (SII). . . $27
The Strong Interest Inventory helps you identify your level of interest in occupations, leisure activities, and academic programs by comparing your interests with people in general and with individuals employed in specific occupations. It's a valuable tool in helping you chart your career course and discover what types of careers you like the most. Comes with a detailed printout of results.
CareerLeader. . . $20

SkillScan. . . $10
Identify your strongest skills with SkillScan, a card sort exercise where you sort 64 different "skill" cards into various categories. The result? A clear picture of what your best skills are and which ones you most want to use in your work. After completing the process you will be able to better evaluate your strengths and where you can best use them.
ValueSearch . . . $10
ValueSearch can help you identify answers to a central career question: "What is important to me?" By clarifying your values, you build a foundation upon which to make decisions, take action, and even find greater meaning in your career. After identifying your top values, you will uncover patterns and underlying themes to find the hidden meaning of what is important to you.
A series of appointments can be arranged to complete the self-assessment instruments and integrate the results into an individual's career planning process. Some of these instruments are available online. Contact a career advisor to discuss the process and next steps.
