| "I recommend that students make use of the Writing Lab early in the term. My ITM courses have a final research paper that is often the first formal writing assignment for many first term UG/GR students. I can see the improvement in my student's writing in her Cyber assignments and Online Exam essays."
Howard Bernstein,
Adjunct Faculty, Operations and Information Technology Management
"The service is really a great one and I always go out of my way to compliment students who use it … it's an indication of an interest in continuous personal improvement."

GGU's Writing Lab is a FREE student service provided by the Center for Academic and Professional Success and the English Department. Here, all students work one-on-one with experienced tutors who have master's degrees in English and education. Most tutors also tutor at the OWL, and all tutors understand what it takes for students to succeed in their class work and in their careers. The Writing Lab meets a variety of needs. Some students drop by seeking help on a particularly tricky assignment. Others, who may be less fluent in English or need more one-on-one help than is generally available in class, use this free service regularly. For both groups, the Writing Lab may provide the edge they need to succeed. Students with learning disabilities are encouraged to make use of the specialized services available - just call the Office of Student Affairs, Disability Services at 415-442-7871 and ask for a letter of introduction. In addition to providing help with written class assignments, tutors are available to help students with reading assignments, oral presentations, resumes, and preparation for job interviews. The best time to start using the Writing Lab is early in the term. Students are encouraged to take their course outlines to the tutors to discuss term objectives and get help with individual assignments.
