Can I see a doctor before I receive my permanent card?
YES, but it will be easier if you have your card. When you complete your online enrollment you should print a temporary ID card which you can take with you to the doctor. If the doctor needs to confirm your coverage and benefits before you have the actual health insurance card, the doctor may call Compass Benefits at 1-800-683-1427.
Where do I go when I get sick?
In the United States, you only go to a hospital if you have a medical emergency that requires immediate attention. If it is not an emergency, please visit a doctor's office instead of a hospital. If you do go to a hospital when it is not an emergency, you will have to wait for several hours to be treated and the cost of your treatment will be more than if you visit a doctor's office. Sometimes the hospital will not treat you at all if it is not an emergency. Please review the Insurance Information Supplement for a list of local urgent care providers.
The doctor filed a claim for me...do I still need to send a separate claim?
YES. You should always file a claim form, even if you doctor says he or she is going to do so. It is also very important to make copies of all claims and other documents you sent to the claims department of Specialty Risk International (SRI).
I don't understand this letter from Specialty Risk International (SRI)...who can help me?
Students are encouraged to come to International Admissions and Advising Services to ask questions and to get help. Remember, we are here to help you.
