| The 2010 Commencement ceremony for **all** graduating students will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 2 pm at the Nob Hill Masonic Center, 1111 California, San Francisco, CA. You must submit your application for graduation no later than February 1, 2010 if you'd like to participate in the 2010 commencement ceremony. An announcement informs the recipient of Golden Gate University's commencement ceremony date, time, and location. Tickets allow guests to attend the San Francisco commencement ceremony. Announcements are optional. However, if you would like to order personalized announcements, you may order them by visiting Herff Jones. It will take at least 2 - 4 weeks for Herff Jones to process your personalized announcements. You will want to order them as early as possible so that you may receive them in time to send out at least 4 -6 weeks in advance of the ceremony. No one may attend the commencement without a ticket. Tickets will be distributed to students who chose to participate in the San Francisco ceremony. You will have the opportunity to take up to six (6) tickets between April 12- 23. Early ticket distribution will begin at the Grad Fair on Friday, April 9th. Regular ticket distribution will take place at the Office of Student Affairs on the 3rd floor of the 40 Jessie building at the San Francisco campus beginning April 12, 2010 during business hours. Make certain to bring a valid photo ID. Lost tickets will not be replaced.A friend/relative may pick-up your guest tickets as long as he or she has a letter of authorization. Ask the individual to present a letter of authorization that includes your name, signature and student ID, and the name of the authorized individual whom you have requested to collect your guest tickets.Children are welcome to attend Commencement; however, graduates and their guests should consider that the event lasts two hours. If the child will occupy a seat, he/she will need a separate ticket. **If you are unable to pick up your tickets, they may be placed at Will Call. In order to have your tickets placed at Will Call, please send your request to commencement@ggu.edu before April 23rd; otherwise your tickets will not be held and placed in the Extra Ticket Distribution during the week of April 26th.** If you would like to place your tickets on will-call, please complete the Will-Call form. NOTE: In the event additional tickets are available, extra tickets will not be available until April 26th. This will ensure fairness to all graduates.The extra ticket distribution process will take place from April 26th - April 30th on the 3rd Floor in the Student Services building located at 40 Jessie Street in San Francisco. You may pick up your tickets without an advance request or you may e-mail commencement@ggu.edu to place your additional tickets at will call. Tickets can only be placed at Will Call or distributed to you at the office. Tickets will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. We will not take request over the phone. If extra tickets are available, it will be posted on this webpage, beginning April 24th. Please do not contact us prior to April 24th to request tickets. Requests will not be taken over the phone. Grad Fair is your opportunity to take care of all your commencement needs at once (priority ticket distribution, regalia pick-up, financial aid exit interviews, order diploma frames and class rings, and take graduation portraits). The Grad Fair will be held on Friday, April 9th at the 536 Mission Street building in San Francisco. Grad Fair is optional. Class rings can be purchased online by visiting the school's vendor, Jostens or you may place an order at the Grad Fair with a Jostens representative on April 9, 2010. The Class Speaker will deliver the Farewell Address during the Commencement Exercises on behalf of the graduating class. If you are interested in being the Class Speaker, please apply by March 19, 2010. Enclosed in this mailing is a Request for Accommodations form and will need to be submitted no later than April 16th. Though a concerted effort will be made to accommodate requests after April 16th, there will be no guarantees. You may download the form here: DisabilityAc_form.doc Honors are awarded to bachelor's degree graduates who maintained cumulative grade point averages in their Golden Gate University courses as follows: cum laude, 3.50-3.74; magna cum laude, 3.75-3.89; summa cum laude, 3.90-4.00.Honors are awarded to master's degree graduates who maintained cumulative grade point averages in the Golden Gate University courses as follows: with honors, 3.800-3.899; with high honors, 3.900-3.999; with highest honors, 4.000.Honor designations do not apply to certificate programs or Doctoral degrees.All graduates receiving honors status (as designated above) will receive an honor cord to wear with their regalia. Honor cords will be distributed to those who met the honors criteria at the end of the Fall 2009 trimester only when they pick up their tickets in the Office of Student Affairs. If your tickets are being held at will call, an honor cord can be mailed to you directly. Please send an e-mail to commencement@ggu.edu to request this service. An awards banquet will be held on Friday, April 30th at 5:30 pm. The Spring 2010 awardees will be notified of their achievement and invited to the awards banquet.
