Post a Job or Internship via GGU Careers

Become an Employer in Residence

As an employer in residence, you can volunteer time and expertise through resume critiques or seminar/workshop presentations. This is an excellent way to gain visibility and share knowledge. Employers commit to volunteering at least 4 hours a semester. Resume critiques take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4-6 pm and seminar presentations vary throughout the semester. Typical seminar presentation topics include resume writing and interviewing skills. However, we are open to other career-related topics.

Participate in Industry Networking Nights

The Office of Career Planning hosts several industry-specific nights throughout the semester, which includes a panel presentation followed by networking with students and faculty member. You can participate as a panelist or mingle with students by simply attending the networking portion of the evening. Industry nights are developed based on relevancy to student’s career goals and interests.

Group Informational Interviews

Informational interviews can provide employers with a casual space for connecting with students. A select group of students will have the opportunity to learn more about your company or a career field from a representative in your company. This is time for students to ask you questions, there is no need for you to be looking to fill a specific position.

Join GGU’s Online Networking Group, Employer Connect

Join our new LinkedIn group to let our students and alumni know about your open positions and opportunities. You can also use this group to look for new talent before you have an opening or just simply to increase your brand awareness among GGU students and alumni.

Gain Visibility on Campus through Resume Reviews

You can volunteer time and expertise during our "Rapid Resume Reviews." During this event, you will be set up at a table in the GGU building lobby and provide feedback to students about their resume. Students will stop by on a drop-in basis. You can also feel free to provide information about your organization and recruiting process. This is an excellent way to gain visibility and share knowledge.

Give an Employer Information Session

Employer information sessions are a great way to outreach to students about your organization. Please note that information sessions will be hosted based on evaluation of relevancy and student interest.

Post a Job or Internship on GGU Careers

The Office of Career Planning reserves the right to refuse job or internship postings which we deem unacceptable including, but not limited to:
  • Positions not related to an academic program offered at Golden Gate University (i.e. teaching, software/computer programming). View a complete list of academic programs.
  • All positions that would employ students by a private individual with an un-established business and no employment contract (e.g., babysitting, caretaker, tutor). We encourage students and alumni to search public job boards for such opportunities.
  • Any position that discriminates against applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, age, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability, or gender.
  • Positions that require a fee for training or to participate in a work experience.
  • Commission-only positions
  • Volunteer positions
  • Positions for law students or lawyers. These positions can be posted through the School of Law.

Before posting a job or internship, we recommend that you review:

Most GGU programs allow students to perform an internship for credit, but you can also offer an internship to students who do not need or want credit for their internship experience. As an employer, you can help shape the future employees in their industry, assist students in acquiring "real-work" skills and potentially fulfill future employment needs through hosting an intern.

Generally, internships take place over 16 weeks and should provide the student with 180 hours of experiential learning. Interns may be paid or unpaid; certain restrictions apply to each. There is no obligation on the part of the employer to offer regular employment to the student following the structured internship experience.


An internship is an experiential learning tool for students. Through an internship they can apply what they are learning in the classroom to a "real-world" problem or project. An internship exists primarily for the benefit of the student -- not the site. An interns' activities should relate to their course of study. Fewer than 20% of their tasks should be clerical in nature.


To offer an internship for-credit, simply post the position on GGU Careers. Your internship will then be reviewed and posted for students. If we feel the internship may not be credit-worthy, we will contact you and suggest modifications. When posting your internship description, keep in mind that exciting and interesting descriptions will attract students attention.

Position descriptions should identify key tasks and responsibilities of the intern. Outline in detail what they will be working on -- the more information you can provide, the better applicants you will receive. Avoid using one-line descriptions as they do not provide enough information.

Use a specific job title that will attract attention -- The title, "intern," may not be enough to get a student to click on your position description. If you have more than one type of internship or job, please post them separately.
