Services

Testing for English and Math: Both undergraduate and graduate testing services are offered by Undergraduate Programs. Undergraduate students can take the English and math placement tests with us, and graduate students can take the graduate writing proficiency test, or the various math proficiency tests.

Tutoring: Tutoring services are now offered by the Center for Academic and Professional Success (CAPS). CAPS operates the Math Lab, Math Online Tutor Help (MOTH), the Writing Lab, and the Online Writing Lab (OWL) providing one-on-one tutoring and help on assignments throughout the academic year. These services are staffed by GGU instructors and trained professional tutors. These services are free to all Golden Gate students.

Calculator Rental: Students taking courses that require a calculator are welcome to take advantage of our calculator rental service. Just stop by our suite to rent a TI-82, TI-83 or TI-83 Plus for a non-refundable fee of $25 for the trimester. Manuals and instructions are available. Calculators must be returned within 10 days of the trimester's end. Your account will be charged $100 for an unreturned calculator.

Our Mission

  • Offer hands-on advising to all undergraduate students to support their academic success and help them reach their graduation goal.
  • Provide GGU's undergraduate core curriculum and support GGU's graduate programs through courses, services and seminars that develop your writing, speaking, mathematical, critical and creative thinking skills
  • Offer courses that investigate the diverse social, political, cultural and ethical contexts in which you will lead your professional life
  • Help you develop the intellectual background for a meaningful life and the educational breadth for career flexibility.
GGU's undergraduate curriculum is continually updated. We collaborate with students, faculty and professional practitioners and organizations to incorporate present-day issues and the most current theoretical approaches, and test new pedagogical techniques.

"To succeed in today's ever-evolving professional fields requires vision, flexibility, and familiarity with diverse areas of knowledge. Technical skills are only part of what it takes to become a business or professional leader. Business leaders today are dynamic thinkers, who consult history, philosophy, social science and literature along with financial and marketing data. Creative and critical thinking, which are developed through liberal studies core courses, are indispensable ingredients of success, and clear, efficient communication, both spoken and written, are essential for career advancement."
