LIBRARY SERVICES: Faculty

Library Services for all Faculty

The University Library looks forward to working with the GGU faculty to enhance student learning. We are always looking for ways to expand our outreach to our faculty, and would enjoy hearing back from you. Please contact us with any comments, questions or concerns via e-mail to askalibrarian@ggu.edu or calling the Reference Desk at 415-442-7244.

Below are some of the services the University Library offers to faculty:

Course Development Support

When you are developing curriculum or planning a course, librarians can help you identify the resources needed for the course including textbooks, recommended readings, and web sites as well as order new library resources that support your classes. Librarians can aid in designing student research assignments that deter plagiarism and foster research skills. If we do not have what you need in our library collection, it may be possible to obtain it through our Interlibrary Loan services. Please contact our reference librarians at 415-442-7244 for more information.

Access to our Online Databases

The library has a wonderful collection of online databases focused on the research needs of the GGU community. You can access databases at the GGU site you teach at and from home. To access from your home or work, you need to have a GGU faculty ID number. To make sure we have you in our system, please contact Gilles Poitras gpoitras@ggu.edu at 415-442-7256. If you do not have a faculty ID card, or faculty ID number, please check with staff in your academic department.

Reserves (including Electronic Reserves, Copyright Policy, and The TEACH Act)

The Library provides student reserves in both the traditional in-library format as well as electronically. Use the following links to find out more information. Please contact Gilles Poitras gpoitras@ggu.edu at 415-442-7256 with any questions or concerns.
  • Electronic Reserves : Electronic Reserves allow students to access reserve items using the Internet.
  • Copyright Policy : This is Golden Gate University's Copyright Policy affecting faculty and students.
  • The TEACH Act : The TEACH Act governs the use of electronic materials (including Electronic Reserves) for educational use.

Research Instruction Sessions

These sessions introduce your students to the resources they need for your class. Tailored to the subject or to an assignment, each session focuses on how to use the library's resources in the most effective way, and allows students to develop the skills they need to find, evaluate, and use information. Sessions can be in person or via your Cyber course. To set up a session, please contact Christina Goff cgoff@ggu.edu at 415-442-7251.

Research Guides

We can develop pathfinders and guides for your courses detailing the materials and databases most useful for your course. The Research Guides are tailored to syllabi, course assignments, or a more general approach to the subject area. Please call the Reference Desk at 415-442-7244 to speak with one of our Reference librarians to learn more about these guides.
