Geocaching, Finding Treasures in Downtown San Francisco
by Vivian Aldridge, Instructional Designer, CyberCampus
If you like discovering the nooks and crannies of downtown San Francisco then you might like to try geocaching.Geocaching is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can hide a geocache (treasure,) pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache's existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS unit can then try to locate the geocache. However, in downtown SF getting an accurate signal from a GPS is almost impossible. Fear not, you do not need a GPS to find the following geocaches. Just follow the drawings shown on the cache page and you will get there. All of these are within walking distance of GGU.
Steps:
- Think of a handle (nickname) for yourself and create a free account on www.geocaching.com
- Click on one of the links below, read the description of the geocache and decipher the hints.
- Find the geocache.
- Sign your handle on the log sheet contained inside the cache.
- Log your find on www.geocaching.com and describe your experience. Remember, it's the journey that counts not the find.
See if you can find any of these:
