FOOD for THOUGHT

FAILURE
You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try. -- Beverly Sills (1929 - )If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. --Mary PickfordA life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing. --George Bernard ShawI've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed. --Michael JordanI don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody. --Bill Cosby (1937 - )

ENERGY STAR
http://www.energystar.gov/
If you are interested in doing your small part to combat energy inefficiency, consider consulting the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Star website.Particularly useful is the Energy Star Qualified Products list and search function. (click on "Explore Products" on the main page.) So, for example, if you wish to compare the energy savings of various flat panel TV's that you are considering buying, click on "Televisions" and scroll down to the search boxes to choose your criteria.
If green buildings are more your thing, there's lots to read on that, in addition to many other areas where efficient energy management is your goal.

Since 1987, AIDS Walk San Francisco has raised nearly $70 million for HIV programs and services in the Bay Area, to educate the community about HIV and prevent its spread; and to lobby the government to increase its support of HIV care, prevention, and the search for a cure. For 22 years, the event has been a model of cost-effective fundraising and extraordinary community activism. In 2008 alone, 25,000 participants, many of whom were members of more than 900 corporate and community teams, raised a near record sum of $4.5 million for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and 58 Bay Area HIV/AIDS organizations.
