SITE OF THE MONTH

Law and Technology Resources for Legal Professionals

A newly updated section of a prominent legal research website, llrx.com, is the feature of this month's site of the month: The recently revised, "Competitive Intelligence - A Selective Resource Guide" by Sabrina I. Pacifici at: http://www.llrx.com/features/ciguide.htm focuses on a wide array of web resources for tracking the competitive and strategic aspects of companies. Categories of online resources include Selected Web, Blogs; News, Video Search and Alerts; Selected Online People Tracking Sources; Monitoring Trends, Companies and Products; and Television and Radio News Transcripts, among others.

If you have any questions about whether we have access to certain sites listed or their equivalents (if the resources require paid subscription), please contact the University Library Reference Desk at 415-442-7244 or askalibrarian@ggu.edu. Of course, our array of databases, available to students, faculty and staff will go a long way to satisfying your appetite for company information, so the CI resource guide should probably be considered an adjunct to the Library's offerings.

GIVE A DOG A BONE

"Not all dogs at the city shelter are strays. Not all are runaways or surrendered by owners. Not all are available for adoption. One group of dogs is never seen by the public. They are the dogs in custody, required by the courts to be held until their legal situation is resolved - a period lasting weeks, months, even a year.

Give a Dog a Bone is a quality of life program for these long-term shelter dogs held at the San Francisco Animal Care & Control, the city's municipal shelter. GADAB is changing the bleak existence of these dogs every day, one chew toy, one play session, one belly rub at a time. Find out more details about this unique program and the people who make it possible.

There are lots of ways you can help this donation-driven program, from giving money to volunteering your time to simply spreading the word. GADAB is currently the only program of its kind but we hope to make the same services available at shelters nationwide. We'll be keeping you posted on this as we learn more." --(Direct quote from the GIVE A DOG A BONE website)

GIVE A DOG A BONE - "The Quaility of Life Program for Long-Term Shelter Dogs" housed at the San Francisco Animal Care & Control, 1200 15th Street at Harrison, San Francisco.

FOOD for THOUGHT

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true. (paraphrased) ---Buddha

How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four; calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg. ---Abraham Lincoln

The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest -- but the myth - persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. ---John F. Kennedy

It is very hard to say the exact truth, even about your own immediate feelings - much harder than to say something fine about them which is not the exact truth. ---George Eliot

The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off. ---Gloria Steinem
