A cohort is a group of students who start and finish a degree program together -- taking many or all of the same courses simultaneously in a prescribed schedule.
While many students remain in their cohorts from beginning to to end, some shift to a slower pace or choose alternative courses suited to their learning goals.
With our full-time, intensive programs, you can earn your Master of Science in Taxation (MS Tax) in as little as one year by taking classes at Golden Gate University's downtown San Francisco Campus or remotely with web-conferencing.
Every week of the program, you will be interacting with tax and accounting professionals -- class guests who present technical information on lunchtime panels and provide career and job search insights to you one-on-one.
You will quickly become fluent in the language of the accounting and taxation professions. From your first day as a GGU cohort student, you will be considered to be a tax or accounting professional. Workplace professionalism and courtesies are observed (business casual dress is required for on-campus classes), and timeliness and adherence to deadlines are practiced.
The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program is designed for mid- to C-level professionals. Fellow cohort members progress through their journey together, immersed in an intensive 16-month course of study to learn how to meet real business challenges. Start with a strong emphasis on teamwork, learn core business skills and knowledge and conclude with a final term that integrates personal goals, company objectives and social values.
Classes are held at GGU's San Francisco Campus and Online.
The Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM) degree provides practical knowledge of all human resource management functions including recruitment and selection, safety and health, contemporary compensation strategies, benefits administration and employment law. You will deepen your understanding of how workforce performance impacts organizational success.
The MSHRM is offered through a unique one-year accelerated program with 10 graduate courses that combine in-person and online formats. Cohort groups are offered in Silicon Valley every fall and San Francisco every spring. This program will accept a maximum of 25 students, so inquire today!
The MS HRM program is also offered during the week in non-cohort format in San Francisco and Online.
The Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSITM) degree program was designed by faculty with experience in leading-edge technologies to develop professionals suited for the top positions in the IT management field.
A one-year, accelerated program allows students to complete the degree in 12 months. Generous financial aid, STEM OPT assistance, and GGU's location in the center of the IT world make the MSITM Cohort program an ideal choice, especially for international students wanting to earn a STEM degree in the United States.
Unlike the traditional Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree that includes a core of common classes and an emphasis program to prepare you for work in a specific focus area of your choice, GGU's Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) program assumes that you already have developed competence within a specific functional area. Thus, it builds on your existing skills through in-depth case discussions on the critical areas of executive and managerial focus common to middle and upper-level management in all governmental and nonprofit organizations, locally and globally. Using a combination of intensive in-person and mixed-mode courses, you will complete your degree in 18 months (one course per term).
The EMPA cohort program is offered at GGU's Silicon Valley site and through Enterprise-Sponsored Sites across the Bay Area.
