Explores the concepts and practices of managing business operations in producing the firm's goods and services with emphasis on how the operations function contributes to the achievement of its strategic objectives. Investigates how the operations function works with other business functions to achieve system-wide optimization. Introduces management concepts and techniques used in the design and development of goods and services, facility layout and location selection, operations planning and control, design and operating efficient supply chains, and in applying continuous process improvement techniques and technologies. Introduces operations management issues such as just-in-time and lean production systems, flexible production systems, agility, mass customization, process reengineering, and quality management programs. Available only to MBA students. Corequisites: MBA 310, MBA 311.
