Every citizen in the United States is impacted by the decisions made in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. The depth and breadth of that impact is difficult to understand without this historical context of the formation of the national government and its evolution since its inception. This course seeks to provide that context, addressing issues of politics, power, and culture, as we gain greater understanding of how government works in the 21st century.
