STAFF

JOANA SCHARINGER, M.S.

Career Consultant

Joana Scharinger is a Career Counselor and former recruiter. She is passionate about combining her counseling and recruiting experience to help people pursue and plan their career paths and journeys. She provides support for resume reviews, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, job searching, and networking strategies. Before joining GGU, Joana worked as an agency recruiter helping companies such as Facebook, Salesforce, GAP and others, expand their teams. Joana has helped hundreds of candidates format their resumes, apply for jobs, and prepare for interviews.

Joana also has a therapy background and worked at a Mental Health Institution for 5 years. She earned her master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Culture from University of Brasilia, Brazil, and a master's degree in Human Resources from Golden Gate University.

In addition, Joana volunteers as a career coach with several nonprofit organizations in San Francisco Bay Area.


TARIK ASAN, M.A.

Professional Development & Student Leadership Manager

Tarik is our Professional Development & Student Leadership Manager. Before joining the Office of Career & Life Design, Tarik served our undergraduate population as a Student Success Coach where he partnered with our students in a growth and goal setting focused coaching program. He also worked with our graduate population as an Academic Advisor to help our graduate students get to the finish line with as little obstacles as possible.He is a proud alumnus (M.A. in Organization Psychology) who has been working at GGU since 2015, beginning his GGU career journey as a student assistant for the Division of Student Success.

In his free time, Tarik composes and produces music in a variety of different genres, and loves to discover new hiking and photography destinations in the Bay Area!


JIMMY BONNER

Project Coordinator

Jimmy Bonner graduated from San Francisco State University (SFSU) in Fall 2014 with a BA in English Education. During his time at SFSU, he worked in the Office of International Programs, helping incoming exchange students. He also studied abroad in South Korea.

Jimmy has been working at GGU since 2015 and helps support the Office of Career and Life Design in multiple ways. He is seeking to extend his education and is currently pursuing a Masters in Digital Marketing at GGU. His learning has provided the office with new ways to promote their services and supports students to the best of his abilities. He enjoys working with Photoshop and is the creative mastermind for the office’s graphic designs.


WENDY MCWILLIAMS, M.A., CCC

Career Consultant

Wendy is a Certified Career Counselor providing one-on-one support for career planning/exploration, resume development, career and industry research, self-assessment/inventories, networking coaching, informational and formal interview prep. Prior to her transition to Career Counseling, Wendy was a software project management in the SF Bay Area tech industry for 15 years and had a stint as a stay-at-home mom. She understands how important it is to find a good fit for both the job and work environment in order to love what you do and thrive. She enjoys working with people in transition at all stages and ages.

In her free time Wendy spends as much time as possible outside among the redwoods with her Dalmatian, Riley. She is also a passionate supporter of preventing food-waste and volunteers with the Berkeley Food Network as a cook.
