Don joined the GGU adjunct faculty in 2018.  From 1990 through 2019, Don held the Chief Tax Officer role in several public technology companies, including Synopsys, Symantec, Chiron, and VERITAS, as well as positions as Chief Audit Executive, Finance Transformation Leader, acting Chief Financial Officer, and interim Chief Accounting Officer.  Prior to his industry career, Don spent ten years in the tax practice of EY in San Francisco and the East Bay.  His principal areas of expertise include corporate and international taxation, income tax accounting, mergers and acquisitions, and tax strategy and planning.   Don is currently a writer of short fiction and creative nonfiction and also focuses on teaching, consulting, and nonprofit board service.

Don holds a B.A. in Sociology from Yale University, an M.B.A. from the University of California, Haas School of Business, and an M.S., Taxation from Golden Gate University.  He is currently pursuing an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte.   He is a Certified Public Accountant (active) in California.
