Elisa Ambrosia, Psy.D., holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley and is a bilingual licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy in English and Italian to individuals and couples. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at California Pacific Medical Center working primarily with individuals coping with medical illness. During her post-doctoral year at California College of the Arts, she became particularly interested in the paradigms of the creative process. The influence of her training years continues to bring deep salience to her clinical work highlighting for instance the ineluctable function of the psyche-soma nexus, of mourning and the creative pursuit, and of the functions of the aesthetic experience in the clinical hour. Additional areas of interest include the body and sexuality, women's mental health, and ethics. Having lived her formative years in Europe, Dr. Ambrosia also brings an appreciation for issues relating to cultural identity, difference, and language.
