Irene received both degrees from University of California, Berkeley; Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and MBA in Accounting and Finance. She began her career in public accounting at Price Waterhouse & Co (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in San Francisco, leaving as an audit senior.

Irene then started her own practice, specializing in small business accounting and real estate taxation. After 25 years in private practice, she sold her business and joined Collins Mason & Company LLP, Oakland, CA as a tax manager. In 2015, she was admitted to the firm as a partner. 

In October 2010, Irene have been awarded ‘W. Stanley Davis Distinguished Adjunct Accounting Faculty’ for the academic year 2010-2011. In May 2018, she was appointed as Senior Adjunct Professor. Irene has been teaching at GGU since January 2009.
