John has spent his career in the retail industry, serving as a CFO and senior manager for several public companies. Following his career in corporate finance, John started a consulting firm helping firms deal with the challenges of rapid growth. This consulting work has developed into Bates Creek Research, Johns registered investment advisory firm, which advises approximately $600m in capital invested in the consumer sector.

John received his doctorate from GGU in 2008 where he received the Doctoral Student of the Year award. His dissertation is titled An Analysis of the Impact of Leasing on Equity Values.
