Professor Kerry Jackson is Head of Security for the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District,
and serves as the Protective Services Manager, and Homeland Security and Emergency
Management Coordinator. He is also an auditor/assessor for CALEA.
Captain Kerry Jackson served 24 years with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. He
graduated from the 95th Academy class at Los Medanos College. Captain Jackson was
promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2000 and was assigned to the Oakland International
Airport where he started the agency’s Motorcycle Unit. He was then promoted to the
rank of Lieutenant in 2005 and received certifications and extensive training in Traffic
Accident Investigation, Traffic Accident Reconstruction, Aviation Security and the
civil process for law enforcement. Captain Jackson was the Detention and Corrections
Administrative Captain at one of the Nation’s largest jails (Santa Rita Jail in Dublin,
California). He oversaw multi-million dollar contracts for food service and inmate
health care.
In August 2008, Captain Jackson steered the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office to its
fourth consecutive reaccreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement
Agencies (CALEA). He has served as a Unit Commander of the Civil/Bailiff’s Unit, the
Chief of Police at California’s Peralta Community College District, and Accreditation
Manager of ACSO. He attended the California Peace Officers Standards and Training
(POST) Executive Development Course and was a member of the Sheriff’s Executive Management
Team. Captain Jackson retired from the sheriff’s office in 2012.
