Navin is a tax partner in the EY Financial Services Office (FSO) Tax Practice in San Francisco. Navin specializes in providing tax consulting and compliance services to clients in the asset management industry.  Navin’s clients include hedge funds, venture capital, fund of funds, private equity and real estate funds.

Navin has more than 20 years of work experience in both the public and private industry. Navin began his career as a tax attorney for a large oil and gas firm in Houston, Texas. Navin later joined a big four accounting firm in San Francisco rotating through their asset management, real estate and technology practices. Recently, Navin was a senior tax partner at a top 20 accounting firm before joining EY in 2013.

Navin is a frequent speaker at alternative investment conferences. Navin co-created a graduate course on the taxation of financial products in 2006 which is taught at Golden Gate University.

Navin graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in accounting (BBA) and afterward a law degree (JD). Navin later received a master’s in law (LLM) in taxation from Golden Gate University. Navin is currently both a licensed attorney and a CPA in California and in multiple other jurisdictions. Since 2005, Navin has been a board member of the Alameda County Library Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting our public libraries.
