He currently consults his clients on a variety of tax-related structuring and compliance related issues including transaction tax implications, foreign tax matters, management company consultation related to changes in ownership and individual tax planning and optimization strategies.

Prior to joining BDO, Sam co-founded Strata Fund Solutions, a fund administrator serving hedge, venture and private equity fund complexes. At Strata, Sam assisted a multitude of clients from start-up phase to multi-billion dollar, multi-strategy

complexes. In addition to managing his fund clients’ daily administration and yearly tax requirements, he consulted clients in building out their back office infrastructure including accounting systems integration, service provider selection and investor relations protocol. He also consulted clientele on SEC compliance and on overall operational integrity issues.

Sam’s practical industry experience includes a tenure as CFO at a multi-strategy investment firm in New York. There, he oversaw all accounting and operating functions including monthly financial statement preparation, coordinating the annual audit process, overseeing the tax filings, investor relations and coordination with service providers.

Sam’s public accounting experience began in San Francisco working for Arthur Andersen and, most recently, with KPMG where he focused exclusively on investment partnerships.
