New Students FAQ

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and current shelter-in-place orders, GGU is currently offering all classes online, this includes summer classes that begin May 10.

  1. Courses listed as offered in-person (SF) will primarily be delivered via Zoom technology, and students will meet at the same time each week with their class.
  2. Courses listed as cyber courses will continue to be delivered via the eLearning platform in an asynchronous format. Students can log in when they want throughout the week to participate in course materials.
  3. Hybrid, Web Conference and Mixed Mode courses will be delivered using a combination of Zoom and eLearning platforms, with some class sessions requiring online attendance at a specified time and date.

If you are not able to obtain your transcripts due to shut-downs or delays related to COVID-19, please contact your enrollment counselor to learn how to expedite your application.

Please be advised that Congress has introduced legislation that, if enacted, will alleviate the impact to GI Bill beneficiaries for a switch to pursuit solely through distance education. We will keep you informed as soon as we receive any updates.

If you plan on using VA educational benefits at GGU, we need you to please submit the following items to our office via email to va@ggu.edu as soon as possible to start the certification process:

  • Complete and submit our VA Educational Benefits form;
  • Submit a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE);
  • Submit a copy of your DD-214 (Member 4);

Vocational Rehabilitation students: Please make sure your Voc. Rehab counselor submits your authorization to us via Tungsten.

Transfer students: complete and submit VA form #22-1995 online at vets.gov.

If you are planning on applying for federal aid as well, you will need to do the following:

  • Complete our GGU Financial Aid Application for Summer 2020 and submit it via email to our office at finaid@ggu.edu;
  • Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2020-2021 available at https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa. In Section 2, make sure to include our Title IV School Code: 001205 and in Section 6, make sure to use the IRS LINK button to automatically upload your 2018 federal tax data onto your FAFSA application.

At this time, our office is serving students remotely. The best way of communicating with our office is via email at va@ggu.edu. We can also set up phone and zoom appointments. We are monitoring our emails and checking our voicemails often. We look forward to assisting you.

GGU has approved the use of Duolingo's online English Test in the place of TOEFL, IELTS and PTE. This policy is for applicants whose TOEFL or IELTS test appointments have been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Students applying to GGU graduate programs will need to meet the minimum required score of 100.
  • Students applying to GGU undergraduate programs will need meet the minimum required score of 80. (note – Golden Gate University does not offer Bachelor’s degree admission to international students seeking an F-1 or J-1 visa)

Students who are experiencing issues with obtaining transcripts due to closed universities should contact their enrollment counselor or email info@ggu.edu.
