The Office of Career Planning offers a wide variety of services for students, alumni, employers, faculty and staff. Our goal is to engage students and alumni in strategic career management as a lifelong practice.

Director | Career Consultant

Neepa is the Director in the Office of Career Planning at Golden Gate University for the schools of Business, Accounting, and Taxation. She works with a diverse group of students and alumni in developing opportunities for career satisfaction and has 7+ years’ experience working with international students. Neepa enjoys guiding students through strategic job searches and provides ongoing assistance with interviewing, resumes, salary negotiations and networking strategies.

Neepa is also involved with the Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers (MPACE) and has served as a board member with that association.

Prior to joining the team at GGU, Neepa provided comprehensive career services at Mills College and has experience counseling within higher education, high school and a juvenile detention center. She has also spent some time abroad and is fluent in Spanish.

She is a CA Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor.

Neepa holds an MS in counseling with a career and college specialization from San Francisco State University, a BA in criminology from the University of California, Irvine, and is currently pursuing an MBA from Golden Gate University. She also spent a year studying abroad in Costa Rica. Pura vida!


Assistant Director | Career Consultant

Kandis Rodgers is dedicated to the personal and professional development of all students, graduates, and alumni. Serving as a resource for employer relations, Kandis utilizes her strengths of relationship building, unique collaboration creations, and empowerment to build on the resources and connections needed for continuous career satisfaction and success.

Prior to becoming a member of the GGU Office of Career Planning team, Kandis was a Career Services Advisor at DeVry University providing career counseling and employer relations throughout all of Northern California and Nevada. She has also served as Program Administrator at Missouri University of Science and Technology, facilitating conversations and developing programs focused on leadership development and cultural competence. Kandis also teaches the graduate career counseling course at Golden Gate University as an adjunct faculty member.

Kandis holds a master's degree in education with a focus on higher education counseling in addition to a bachelor's degree in social work, both from Bloomsburg University.

Joana scharinger

Career Consultant

Joana Scharinger is a Career Counselor and former recruiter. She is passionate about combining her counseling and recruiting experience to help people pursue and plan their career paths and journeys. She provides support for resume reviews, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, job searching, and networking strategies.

Before joining GGU, Joana worked as an agency recruiter helping companies such as Facebook, Salesforce, GAP and others, expand their teams. Joana has helped hundreds of candidates format their resumes, apply for jobs, and prepare for interviews.

Joana also has a therapy background and worked at a Mental Health Institution for 5 years. She earned her master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Culture from University of Brasilia, Brazil, and a master's degree in Human Resources from Golden Gate University.

In addition, Joana provides volunteer career advice to the Brazilian community in the Silicon Valley by participating in various one-on-one meetings, panels, and conferences.


Project Coordinator

Jimmy Bonner is a graduate from San Francisco State University (SFSU) with a BA in English Education with an emphasis in Linguistics. During his time at SFSU, he worked in the Office of International Programs, helping incoming exchange students. He also studied abroad in South Korea.

Jimmy has also tutored English, working with middle school students, high school students, and college ESL students in the United States, and Korean students while in South Korea.


Career Counseling Intern

Robyn Kurland is currently a Master's Candidate in Counseling at San Francisco State University, specializing in career counseling.

A Bay Area native, Robyn attended college in upstate New York before moving to Washington, DC. There, she spent eight years working for various national civil rights organizations helping mobilize local and state leaders on educational campaigns through training and coaching.

Since moving back to the Bay Area, she has been a wellness coach and volunteer career counselor. Most recently, she has been showcasing international disability films to various communities and facilitating discussions around inclusion, accessibility, and disability.

She is excited to be interning at GGU to help talented students achieve their career goals: whether they are beginning to explore their employment options, need support revising their resume, or prepare for an upcoming interview.

She is also happy to discuss any questions or concerns around binge-worthy television and would love suggestions on good places to hike, podcasts she should be listening to, and any other fun and free activities in the city.
