Dr. Delaram Farzaneh is a human rights scholar and lawyer from Iran. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Law in Iran. After coming to the United States, she received her first Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Comparative Law, and a second LL.M. and Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) in International Legal Studies. Since then, she has continued her scholarship at the NYU School of Law’s Center for Human Rights and Global Justice (CHRGJ), the Freedom Project at Wellesley College, and UC Davis School of Law.

Her research and writing examine the legal, historical, Islamic jurisprudence, human rights, and comparative aspects of women’s rights in Iran. Her book called Judgeships in Iran: Step Down, You are a Woman - A Legal Analysis of International Human Rights   is based on her dissertation that was published in 2017. It is a comprehensive description and analysis of women’s rights in Iran from the various perspectives of domestic and comparative laws, Islamic jurisprudence, and international human rights laws within a historical context. It demonstrates dramatic government changes in Iran since the beginning of the twentieth century, as well as their views on gender roles in defining, deconstructing, and re-defining women’s rights and freedoms. The comparative study explores the experiences of women’s lawyers and judges in the United States, and the crucial role of the US Congress and the Supreme Court in removing discriminatory practices against women. It continues to demonstrate that the compelling issue of banning women from judgeships on the basis of gender constitutes violations of women’s guaranteed rights under international human rights laws. She also has published a law review article and a number of shorter online pieces.

In addition to her academic work, she has worked with various human rights NGOs, as well as theUN Working Group on Discrimination against Women in Law and Practice. Before coming to GGU as an Adjunct Professor of Law, she taught at the Albright Institute and the Freedom Project at Wellesley College.

In 2020 Dr. Farzaneh became the new Associate Director for Graduate Law Students & Diversity Programs at the Golden Gate University School of Law.
