Associate Professor Harry B. Maring has been in private practice for over 30 years and is the principal of The Maring Law Firm in San Francisco, focusing on estate and gift tax planning as well as tax, corporate, and business planning for individuals and entities.

Professor Maring is Certified as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization and earned his LLM degree in Taxation from New York University School of Law, his JD, cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law and his BA in History from Vanderbilt University.He is also an adjunct professor at Hastings College of the Law where he teaches the Estate Planning seminar class.Professor Maring authored the request for and received IRS Private Letter Ruling 200621020. He is a frequent speaker and author on various estate planning topics, including the following activities for Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB): Author of the chapter on Tax Planning for Farms, Vineyards and Ranches in the publication Estate Planning for Special Assets; author of the "S" Corporation Action Guide; author of a revision of Chapters 14 and 15 of Decedent's Estate Practice; Seminar Lecturer for Cross-Over Issues in Estate Planning and Dissolutions; Seminar Lecturer for Estate Planning for the Blended Family.Professor Maring and his family enjoy travel, food and wine and he fancies himself an artisan baker of rustic breads, boules, baguettes and biscotti.
