Women's Employment Rights Clinic Achieves Victory for Women Electricians
Student clinicians with the School of Law's Women's Employment Rights Clinic (WERC), litigating with Equal Rights Advocates, recently settled a gender discrimination case brought on behalf of six women electricians. The workers asserted they were targeted for layoff on the basis of their gender in violation of the state anti-discrimination law. After an Alameda County Superior Court judge rejected the employer's motion for summary judgment, the parties settled the case through mediation.
