LLM in Taxation Law Program Celebrates 30 Years
Golden Gate's LLM in Taxation Law Program, one of the preeminent graduate tax law programs in the West and the only such program in the San Francisco Bay Area, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 8 pm at the Campton Place Hotel in San Francisco. Symposium To Examine Urban Parks Equity Nov. 14
Environmental lawyers, researchers, park agency officials, and community activists will present their findings on access to parklands and open space in low-income communities in California and beyond, at the School of Law's 2008 Environmental Law Symposium on Friday, Nov. 14, 9 am to 4 pm. The symposium theme is "Urban Parks Equity: Income, Race & Open Space." Up to 5 MCLE credits are available. See the flyer.
US Department of Justice Honors Visiting Professor Deborah Behles for Environmental Litigation Work
Deborah Behles, a former trial attorney at the US Department of Justice who is now a visiting assistant professor with the Golden Gate Environmental Law & Justice Clinic, has received the Department of Justice's John Marshall Award for her team work on a case against a coal-fired power plant that resulted in the largest single environmental settlement in US history. She earned a Gold Medal from the US Environmental Protection Agency for the same work earlier this year.
Women's Employment Rights Clinic & Other Groups Convince City College to Change Hiring Practice
At the urging of the Golden Gate University Women's Employment Rights Clinic and two civil rights organizations, the City College of San Francisco Board of Trustees has revised its hiring policy regarding applicants with prior drug-related criminal convictions. At its meeting, the Board of Trustees publicly thanked the clinic and Golden Gate University for its advocacy work and contributions on this issue. Read the ACLU press release.
US News Ranks GGU School of Law Among Nation's Most Diverse
In its 2009 edition of "America's Best Graduate Schools," US News and World Report lists GGU School of Law as one of the nation's 73 most diverse accredited law schools.
